Dr. Alex was raised in a rural area outside of Baltimore, MD. Growing up in a family who has a greenhouse and florist business, she quickly developed a love and appreciation of nature. She has fond memories of being in the greenhouse with her dad or out in the garden with her brothers.
From a young age, she always had an infatuation with animals, and her mom now jokes that she always knew Alex would be a veterinarian given that she had a million stuffed animals and not one doll or Barbie, as a little girl.
Dr. Alex attended Bucknell University in central Pennsylvania where she earned a BS in biomedical engineering. After graduating she moved to Vail, CO for a year to strengthen her application to vet school in addition to her skiing skills. She then headed back to the east coast to earn her veterinary degree at University of Pennsylvania. Upon graduation she completed an extra year of training in an emergency internship at Veterinary Specialty Emergency Center in Levittown and Philadelphia, PA.
While Dr. Alex is very appreciative of her time in Philadelphia and everything she has learned, she has never been a city girl and is very excited to be back west in such a beautiful place! Her veterinary interests include emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery and diagnostic imaging. In her free time she likes to do anything outside from skiing, hiking, fishing and playing team sports, particularly lacrosse. She also enjoys cooking, baking and in the fall watching professional football.
Dr. Alex came to Jackson with one lazy English Bulldog, Holly (aka “Hollbear”). She has added a hound, Daisy and a lab puppy named Charlie to her little family now.
